What is the difference between Running Watts and Surge Watts? Running Watts is the continuous power a unit can supply non-stop. Surge Watts is a short burst of extra power used to start motors or compressors.

How do I calculate runtime? Runtime (hours) = Battery Capacity (Wh) × 0.85 ÷ Device Watts

The 0.85 factor accounts for inverter losses and heat during normal operation.

Can a power station run a refrigerator? Most refrigerators need 100–200W to run, but 1,200W–1,500W to start. A unit with at least 1,000Wh and 1,500W surge is usually enough.

What is LiFePO4? LiFePO4 is a lithium battery chemistry known for longer life, better safety, and stable performance. It is the standard for modern portable power stations.

Why do chargers show 0–80% times? LiFePO4 batteries charge fast up to 80%, then slow down in the final stage to protect cell life. The 0–80% time shows the practical fast-charge speed.

Can I leave it plugged in? Yes. Modern units with BMS protection stop charging when full. Many also support UPS mode for instant backup during outages.

How heavy are these units? Small units under 500Wh typically weigh 5–15 lbs. Medium units 500Wh–1,500Wh weigh 15–35 lbs. Heavy units above 1,500Wh can weigh 35 lbs or more.

Can I fly with one? Units under 100Wh are usually allowed in carry-on. Anything over 100Wh is prohibited on passenger aircraft by TSA and FAA rules.

Can I charge with solar while using appliances? Yes. Most units support pass-through charging, so you can run devices and collect solar power at the same time.

How should I store it long term? Keep it in a dry, temperature-controlled space. Store at 50%–80% charge and top it off every 3 to 6 months.
